My name is Ryan Katz-Rosene, and I am busy being born (one hopes...). These days I am particularly busy being the Graduate Programs Director at the University of Ottawa's Institute of Environment and an Associate Professor at the School of Political Studies (with a Cross-Appointment to the Department of Geography, Geomatics & Environmental Studies), where I research and teach a range of topics relating to Climate Change Politics, Environmental Political Economy, and Canada's efforts to mitigate climate change. At the university I also help coordinate the International Political Economy Network (IPEN), and serve as a co-host of The Ecopolitics Podcast. 

Off campus I serve on the Executive Editorial Board of the journal Studies in Political Economy; as the publisher of The Trade Off: A Newsletter in Ecological Political Economy; as a founding editor of the Flying Less in Academia Resource Guide; and (formerly) as President of the Environmental Studies Association of Canada. In all the remaining time I help out on my family's regenerative farm.

Much of my research focuses on climate policy debates - in particular their underlying political economic, ecological, and semantic dimensions and consequences. I am an ecological political economist, in short. Whether it's oil pipelines, high-speed trains, nuclear power, livestock rearing, recycling, Sustainable Aviation Fuels, renewables, economic growth, plant-based proteins, hydrogen aircraft, 'Climateflation', or any new proposed low-carbon technology - I am fascinated by the environmental arguments and counter-arguments made about them and their social, political economic and ecological consequences. I have previously examined ecological political economy case studies involving Alberta's 'oil sands', high-speed rail development; nuclear energy; livestock production; "sustainable protein", global aviation governance, and I recently published a book about the ecological political economy of "GDP growth," titled The Growth-Environment Debate. 

My current major projects involve:

• The environmental political economy of high-speed rail in Canada;
• The political economy of Climateflation
